Oil Filtration Made Easy
Filtering the oil is a simple and quick process that helps extend the life of your pump and enhances the performance of your freeze dryer.
First Use:

Remove the packaging from the cartridge, grip the top of the cartridge, and insert it into the cartridge holder.

Press the cartridge firmly into place until it seals properly.
Optional: You can use the dial on the lid to set a reminder for the month you last filtered the oil.
Important Filter Information:

The filter is not dishwasher safe.

The filter should only be used with vacuum pump oil.
First Use:

Oil Filtration Instructions:

Open the oil reservoir drain valve and let the oil drain into the filter. To ensure complete drainage, slightly lift the rear of the vacuum pump.

Wait for the oil to pass through the filtration system.

During filtration, a small amount of water mixes with the oil. As the filtration process continues, the water will settle at the bottom of the container while the oil remains on top.

Once the oil is separated, carefully pour off the oil and discard the water. Do not return the water to the vacuum pump as it could cause damage.

Pour the filtered (or fresh) oil back into the vacuum pump.
How to Determine if Your Oil is Clean for Use:

The oil should be free of debris or particulates.

The oil should not appear milky or cloudy.
-
The oil should be clear (it may appear yellow or amber but should remain clear).

Your vacuum pump should be achieving a suitable pressure (mTorr) for freeze-drying.
How to Know When to Replace the Oil Filter:

If oil doesn’t drain properly through the filter (this can occur over time as debris accumulates).

If the oil continues to appear milky or filled with debris after filtering.
How to Replace the Oil Filter:

We understand that freight shipping can be confusing — especially if you’ve never had a large item delivered this way. This page will walk you through exactly how it works, including what a liftgate is, what “curbside delivery” really means, and what to be prepared for when your order arrives.
Why Freight Is Used
Freight shipping is required for large or heavy products — usually those over 120 lbs or oversized dimensions. Unlike standard parcel shipping (UPS/FedEx), freight is handled by a trucking company using semi-trucks.
What is Curbside Delivery?
All of our freight shipments are curbside delivery by default, which means:
- A full-size semi-truck (typically 20 to 53 feet long) will arrive at your location.
- The truck will stop at the end of your driveway or nearest accessible point — not necessarily at your garage or door.
- The driver’s responsibility ends at the curb. It’s your responsibility to unload the item from the truck unless other arrangements are made.
Important: Some extremely large or heavy products are not eligible for residential delivery at all, even with liftgate service. In these cases, you will need to collect your order from the nearest freight terminal or depot. We will notify you if this applies to your order before it ships.
What Is a Liftgate?
A liftgate is a hydraulic platform on the back of a truck that can lower freight from the truck bed to the ground. Not all freight trucks are equipped with one, and it's not guaranteed unless you request it in advance.
If your delivery location does not have a forklift or loading dock, we strongly recommend ordering liftgate service.
- Liftgate fees typically range from $25 to $125, depending on the product or carrier.
- If the truck arrives without a liftgate and you’re unable to unload, you may be charged re-delivery and full liftgate fees.
What Drivers Are (and Aren’t) Required to Do
- Drivers are not required to assist with unloading
- Some drivers may help at their discretion, but this is not guaranteed
- If the truck can safely pull into your driveway and turn around, they may accommodate — but it’s entirely up to the driver
- If your road or driveway is inaccessible to large trucks, you’ll need to meet the driver at the nearest accessible location
Important Notes
- Do not accept or use liftgate service unless you’ve ordered and paid for it — even if the driver says it’s okay. Carriers may charge you $100+ for unauthorized use.
- In some areas, liftgate delivery may be required by the freight company for safety or liability reasons
- If you’re unsure whether you need a liftgate, assume yes unless you have a dock or forklift on-site
Delivery Scheduling
