18″ x 24″ Variable Speed Lathe VSR2 offer woodturners a variety of new features that make it the most versatile lathe in RIKON’s line – V2 offers a 2.5 HP, 220V motor. The lathe uses an inverter to control the motor’s operating efficiency, speed and regulates torque to give the craftsman the consistency needed when turning projects. Including a swivel headstock, spindle lock, spindle indexing, 3 bed extension positions, variable speeds from 50 to 3850 RPMs, digital read out display, moveable magnetic control box, 115V outlet for plugging in lights or other accessories, and increased tool storage.
Constructed of heavy cast iron, the bed, classically shaped legs, headstock, tailstock and tool rest assembly provide over 370 pounds of stability when turning. Plus, the large 2.5HP 230V motor gives the power and dependability needed for working on the largest bowls or oversized spindle projects. The newly designed headstock can swivel 180 degrees for outboard turning! This feature expands the bowl or platter diameters from 18″ to 27-1/2″, or up to 44″ if the headstock is secured facing forward (A freestanding tool rest is needed for this setup (not provided)). Spindle turnings up to 24″ in length can be done with the lathe, but with the addition of the optional 16″ long #70-908 Bed Extension, turnings up to 40″ are possible. The lathe has 3 additional machined surfaces on the sides of the bed to mount this special bed extension that increase the turning options even further. Lathe includes spur center, live center, 3-3/8” faceplate, 12″ tool rest with 1″ diameter post, MT2-MT2 spindle alignment tool, knock-out bars, wrenches and tool holder.
• Increased Spindle Height for creating greater diameter spindles, bowls and platters.• Lathe Bed Has Machined Ends and Front for Adding Extensions to Increase Turning Capabilities
• Powerful 2.5 HP AC Motor
• Magnets on Back of the Control Box Allow it to be Placed Anywhere Easily Accessible to Turners for Quick Controlling of the Lathe Speeds or Emergency Stopping.
• Machined Bed and Matching Components give Precise Alignment
• Ball-Bearing Construction for Smooth, Precise Spindle Operation
• Adjustable Locking Handles Keep Components Positioned Securely
• Pivoting Belt Cover for Easy Access when Changing Belt Speeds
• 8” PRO Tool Rest Features Hardened Steel Top Rod to Provide Extra Control of Tools When Turning

Liftgate Service, Curbside Delivery & What to Expect
We understand that freight shipping can be confusing — especially if you’ve never had a large item delivered this way. This page will walk you through exactly how it works, including what a liftgate is, what “curbside delivery” really means, and what to be prepared for when your order arrives.
Why Freight Is Used
Freight shipping is required for large or heavy products — usually those over 120 lbs or oversized dimensions. Unlike standard parcel shipping (UPS/FedEx), freight is handled by a trucking company using semi-trucks.
What is Curbside Delivery?
All of our freight shipments are curbside delivery by default, which means:
- A full-size semi-truck (typically 20 to 53 feet long) will arrive at your location.
- The truck will stop at the end of your driveway or nearest accessible point — not necessarily at your garage or door.
- The driver’s responsibility ends at the curb. It’s your responsibility to unload the item from the truck unless other arrangements are made.
Important: Some extremely large or heavy products are not eligible for residential delivery at all, even with liftgate service. In these cases, you will need to collect your order from the nearest freight terminal or depot. We will notify you if this applies to your order before it ships.
What Is a Liftgate?
A liftgate is a hydraulic platform on the back of a truck that can lower freight from the truck bed to the ground. Not all freight trucks are equipped with one, and it's not guaranteed unless you request it in advance.
If your delivery location does not have a forklift or loading dock, we strongly recommend ordering liftgate service.
- Liftgate fees typically range from $25 to $125, depending on the product or carrier.
- If the truck arrives without a liftgate and you’re unable to unload, you may be charged re-delivery and full liftgate fees.
What Drivers Are (and Aren’t) Required to Do
- Drivers are not required to assist with unloading
- Some drivers may help at their discretion, but this is not guaranteed
- If the truck can safely pull into your driveway and turn around, they may accommodate — but it’s entirely up to the driver
- If your road or driveway is inaccessible to large trucks, you’ll need to meet the driver at the nearest accessible location
Important Notes
- Do not accept or use liftgate service unless you’ve ordered and paid for it — even if the driver says it’s okay. Carriers may charge you $100+ for unauthorized use.
- In some areas, liftgate delivery may be required by the freight company for safety or liability reasons
- If you’re unsure whether you need a liftgate, assume yes unless you have a dock or forklift on-site
Delivery Scheduling
- The carrier will contact you by phone to arrange a delivery appointment
- Typically, you’ll receive a 1–2 day notice and a 3–4 hour delivery window
Before You Sign
Inspect your shipment thoroughly before signing the delivery receipt:
- If there is any damage, note it clearly on the paperwork
- Take photos immediately
- Contact us within 24 hours
Summary
- Freight deliveries are made via large trucks to curbside locations
- Liftgate service is not included unless requested
- Some oversized items are not available for residential delivery and must be picked up at a depot
- Always inspect and document before accepting delivery
